Ability haste

Ability haste is a stat that lets eligible abilities be cast more often by lowering their effective cooldown.

Active ability

An active ability needs an explicit player command, unlike a passive effect that works without pressing its button.

AD

AD means attack damage, a stat that increases many basic attacks and some abilities.

AP

AP means ability power, a stat that strengthens effects with AP scaling.

ARAM

ARAM stands for All Random All Mid, a League mode focused on fights in one lane with randomized champion selection.

Armor

Armor reduces physical damage taken by a champion.

Attack speed

Attack speed measures how frequently a champion can perform basic attacks.

Brush

Brush hides its occupants from enemies who lack vision inside it.

Buff

Buff can mean a temporary positive effect on a champion or a power increase made by developers in a patch.

Build

A build is the combination and order of items, runes and ability upgrades chosen for a champion.

Champion

A champion is the character controlled by a player, with a distinct set of abilities and ways to contribute.

Control ward

A control ward grants vision and reveals or disables certain enemy wards in its range.

Critical strike

A critical strike is an attack that deals extra damage when the champion's critical-strike chance triggers.

Exhaust

Exhaust is a summoner spell that temporarily weakens an enemy champion.

Experience

Experience, or XP, lets a champion level up and improve abilities during a match.

Flash

Flash is a summoner spell that instantly moves a champion a short distance.

Fog of war

Fog of war hides parts of the map that your team cannot currently see.

Fountain

The fountain is the starting area of each base where champions respawn and restore resources.

Gold

Gold is the resource used to buy items during a League match.

Health

Health, or HP, is the resource showing how much damage a champion can take before dying.

Ignite

Ignite is an offensive summoner spell that deals damage over a short period.

Inhibitor

An inhibitor is a base structure whose destruction sends super minions down that lane.

Jungle

The jungle is the area between lanes containing monster camps and paths toward objectives.

Lag

Lag is a noticeable delay between player input and what happens in the match, often linked to connection or performance.
